How to Properly Tighten Adjustment Nut on Curt Friction Sway Control
Question:
I purchased the Curt sway control bar and before reading instructions I tightened the factory set adjustment nut. Now I dont know where to loosen it to to be back at factory setting before I test it. Im concerned if I leave it too tight it will bend on the first test. Any suggestions?

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Friction Sway Control # 17200 that you recently installed. He stated that there isn't a specific factory setting as to how tight the adjustment nut is out of the box, as it is really just spun on the arm. He stated you are perfectly safe just loosening up the nut and then performing a road test. If you find that it's too loose (not enough sway control), simply tighten the nut 1/4 turn clockwise and testing its performance again, repeating until you get the proper tension.
I have attached the complete installation instructions on the Sway Bar that you can also check out.
