Can Rear Uprights with Crossbar on Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack be Removed Together
Question:
I have been unable to find a sliding rack system for my 17 Tacoma. I want to be able to step up into the bed of my truck without having to duck under an overhead rack. On my old GMC Sierra the TracRac System allowed me to slide the rear rack forward and out of the way. Im wondering if this adjustable height system will allow the rack posts to slide out of the mounting brackets?

The uprights and crossbar on Thule Xsporter Pro ladder rack # TH500XTB-THXK4B can be removed as one unit but you would have to take the end caps off the bottoms of each upright every time or leave them off.
Another option is to use Rola ladder rack # 59799 which also fits the 2017 Toyota Tacoma with Deck Rail system. This rack features 2 knobs per upright and if you were to loosen them you could push that section of the ladder rack forward or back along the Deck Rail tracks as needed. The Thule rack can do this too but accessing the hardware to loosen it is not as easy. I have linked a video review for you.
