What is Needed to Install Brake Controller on 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Question:
I was looking through the manual of my 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and it says that I need: If your trailer is equipped with electric brakes, you can get a jumper harness electric trailer brake control with a trailer battery feed fuse from your dealer.inch Is this something that you carry? If so, do you have a part number. If I get this, does it mean that I dont need a proportional brake controller? Thank you

You are going to need a brake controller, and what will be required depends on if your 2003 Chevy Silverado 25000HD has a factory 7-way or not. If you are unsure you can contact your local Chevy dealer with your VIN and they can let you know.
If you DO have a factory 7-way you can get a brake controller such as the outstanding Prodigy P3 # 90195 and you will only need Wiring Harness # 3015-P. One end of this harness plugs into the controller while the other end plugs into the port under your dash.
If you do NOT have the factory 7-way you can install a brake controller such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195 along with Harness # 3015-P and either the Pollak 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector Socket w/ Wiring Harness # PK11898, OR if your truck has a round plug with a cap instead of a bundle of wires above the spare tire, use the Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way # 30955. I've added links to a couple video installs on a Silverado for you to check out as well.
