Connector Location for Brake Controller on a 2007 Dodge Dakota with OEM Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2007 Dakota with AHC Trailer Tow Group, XFKP 7-pin Wiring Harness and XFHP Class IV Receiver. Under the dash between the parking brake pedal and the steering column is a socket with a white cap taped to a larger harness. See picture. Is that for the brake controller? Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
If your 2007 Dodge Dakota has the OEM tow package then that connector with the white cap could very well be what you are looking for to install a brake controller. Typically that connector is blue, but if you take the cap off and the connector looks like it matches up to the Plug-In Adapter # 3020-P it should be the correct one. This adapter is a perfect fit for the popular Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller.
A sure way to know if that is the correct connector or not is to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2992 to see if one of the pins has constant power and if one of the pins only gets power when the brake pedal is pressed. This tells you that the wiring is run for the brake controller.
I have attached a sample installation viddeo and a link to a helpful article for you to check out as well.
