Connecting Blue Brake Output Wire from Trailer Brake Controller on 2006 Ford F-1-50

Question:

2006 f150 xl Has transmission cooler Has aftermarket appears to have oem 4 pin flat plug Have installed brake controller to oem plug under dash. Have installed rv 7 pin female plug on back of truck by splicing into existing 4 pin flat plug. Have run fused wire from battery to 7 pin female rv plug. Question: the blue wire from brake controller plugs into oem plug under dash. I cant find blue wire in back of truck.Do i simply cut before oem plug and run new wire? Im assuming the other 3 connections at oem plug is good because controller has power.

The blue, brake output wire coming from your brake controller should run up to the 7-Way at the rear of your F-150, specifically to the 7 o'clock position inside the connector. For additional wiring to run this length, you can use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1, which is sold by the foot.

On your 2006 Ford F-150, the blue brake wire might already be run to the end of the driver's side frame rail. If you are able to access it there, you can simply tap into this wire. Otherwise, you can just splice into the brake output wire coming from the back of the brake controller port that you mentioned in your question.

Once everything is installed, you can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to make sure you have power at the 7 o'clock pin on the 7-Way when using the manual override on the brake controller inside the truck.
