How To Minimize Sway And Wobble On The Swagman XTC 2-Bike Platform Rack
Question:
Even with the hitch bolt tightened by a drill fitted with the appropriate socket head, the rack sways an alarming amount. Making turns, going over small bumps, etc send it moving more than any other rack I've seen on the road. The hitch on the Mazda 6 is great, no looseness, but when the 1.25 shaft is ed, it can easily be wobbled by hand. What options are there for stabilizing this? I've seen the entry about a Curt strap and would really prefer to avoid that. This rack was gotten to prevent any extra contact with the car body itself after some very bad trunk track incidents that damaged the finish.

It sounds like you have already tightened everything down for the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Rack, Item # S64670, so you should not have much play from your bike rack. Because you are still having a lot of movement, I would check and see if the pin hole on your hitch has widened and also check to make sure everything related to the XTC-2 bike rack is in good working order. After these steps, I am afraid your next option is to add the Curt Support Strap, Item # 18050. This strap from Curt will help reduce any movement you are experiencing while driving.
I have attached some videos for you to check out and one is from a test course.
