Concealed and Visible Trailer Hitch Options for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
Hello Etrailer, I went into my dealership service station to get some minor work done on my 2018 Crosstrek and inquired about installing a hitch on my car. I like the stealth hitch. I dont want to see a hitch when Im not using it. Personal preference. Well, the service guy told me that he felt it was gimmickyinch and proceeded to try to convince me that the other hitches would be better. His reaction to my request makes me even more dedicated in getting the stealth hitch, but I thought Id ask the experts on this matter because Im still gonna get one. I plan on using a two bike rack system, and a cargo basket, but if I want to tow an ATV 1, I can do it. Can you please assure me that this is not gimmicky? Worried fan

For your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek we offer several hitch options, all shown on the linked page, that include both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III types. We generally always recommend the 2-inch option when it is available since these hitches typically offer a higher weight capacity for towing and much broader compatibility with the range of available accessory items like bike racks and cargo baskets.
We also have hitches # C13382 (2-inch) and # C12184 (1-1/4-inch) from Curt that offer a concealed cross tube. These are not quite as discrete in appearance as the EcoHitch # 306-X7365 but they are also at a better price-point for most.
If you are looking for a personal opinion I can offer one. Were I putting a hitch on my Crosstrek I would opt for one of the visible models, either the USA-made Curt # C13382 or the Draw-Tite # 76209, for their higher capacity and lower price. Out of all hitch options I myself would purchase Draw-Tite # 76209. Installation of this hitch is shown in the linked video.
