Special Trailer Tires to Replace Sizes 215/75-15 and 165/80-13
Question:
Looking for replacement tires for 2 very old trailers: 4 - P215/75B15 and 2- P165/80B13 The 4 P215/75 B15 tires are on a trailer with a large 23foot fiber glass boat. Im not sure about the overalll weight. Could be a 2000 - 4000lbs. The 2 P165/80 B13 tires are on a trailer with an aluminum boat. Boat sets of tires are from the mid 80s. Im having difficulty matching these very old tire specifications to the ones used today. Can you please point me to the equivalent replacement tires. Thank you.

For each of your two older trailers you will want to confirm the maximum weight (GVWR) before choosing new tires. Once you know the GVWR you will divide this by the number of tires on the trailer; this will tell you the minimum weight rating needed for each tire, but naturally some safety margin is a good thing.
You will want to be sure to choose special trailer tires, the ST-type, and not passenger vehicle P-type tires for both trailers. Trailer tires are made to withstand the load conditions on a trailer; passenger tires are not and they should never be used on a trailer.
We do not have the two specific tire sizes you referenced, 215/75-15 and 165/80-13, but we do have trailer tires in sizes that are close. You can refer to the linked articles for more on tire sizes and load ranges. Sizes you might consider using are ST205/75-15 such as # TR20515D and ST175/80-13 such as # AM10210.
