Installing Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch RM-766 on 2018 GMC Sierra 1500

Question:

can I use the road master 766 battery disconnect on the negative cable I have a 2018 GMC 1500 it wants me to disconnect negative battery cable? Thanks

According to Roadmaster, the reason GM says that the negative side of the battery must be disconnected is a standard shop procedure. If you use hand tools (wrench) and start by removing the clamp on the positive side of the battery, then you might accidentally touch the wrench to a grounded component (frame, engine block, etc) on the truck and create a short circuit. Sparks will fly and the battery could be damaged. However, with the Roadmaster battery disconnect system, there are no such concerns because no tools are required.

The # RM-766 should be installed on the POSITIVE side of the battery.
