Trailer Tire Recommendation for Tire Size 205/75-14

Question:

The 205 75 D14 tires on my trailer wear on the inside and outside. I thought it was due to under inflation but I use 40 psi in the tires. Is this wear due to slight swaying of the trailer. The trailer pulls very good without any noticeable movement. Will going to radial tires help.

That's an odd problem to have with the tires if they are inflated to their max psi. Does the trailer sway slightly like you mentioned? If so then most likely you have the trailer improperly loaded or you have worn out suspension components adding too much movement to the setup.

The Westlake Tire part # 274-000012 would be a great option as well. It has a weight capacity of 2,040 lbs at 65 psi and unlike most trailer tires has a higher speed rating of 75 mph whereas other tires are only rated for 65. This is also a radial which is preferred over bias ply tires.

A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear.

A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer.
