Installing Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller on 2000 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I am trying to install a P2 brake controller on a Silverado. It has a 6 way harness on it now. Does the blue brake wire coming out of the controller replace the brake wire in the harness or just attach to it? Where does the red stoplight wire attach?

To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 on your 2000 Chevy Silverado, you actually only need to use the Plug-In Adapter Harness # 3025-P. One end of this harness will plug right into the brake controller itself, while the other end will plug into the built-in port beneath the truck's dash. This is a true plug-and-play installation, meaning you will not need to worry about splicing into or connecting any individual wires.
This harness and your Prodigy P2 brake controller will work great, whether you have a 6-Way like # RM-910030-7 which features six round pins, or a much more common 7-Way connector like # PK11893, which has 6 outside pins and one center pin. This is because either setup will have a brake output circuit on the connector for a brake controller to send power back to the trailer brakes.
I have attached an installation video on a later model year Silverado that you can use for reference.
