If you have the tow package on your 2005 Ford F-150 then you should just need the Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3035-P to install the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 to the connector under your drivers side dash. However, if you do not have the connector and/or you are just splicing the controller wiring into the harness on your F-150 then it sounds like you are on the right track. Just be sure to connect the following wires from the Voyager to the following functions:

Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)

I recommend using a circuit tester # 3808 to ensure that you connect everything correctly if it isn't already labeled. After installing the brake controller I recommend using the manual override lever while checking the pin in the 5 o'clock position on the 7-Way of your F-150 to confirm that all of the wiring is run for your controller to properly function.
