Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for 2002 Ford F-150 Short Bed
Question:
I want to put a sliding hitch in a 2002 F-150 short box and was wondering what all I need. I plan on using the Reese 16,000 lb slider.

To use the Reese slider 16k hitch part # RP30051 that you referenced you'll need a set of fifth wheel rails installed in your 2002 Ford F-150 short bed. For that you'd want the Reese install kit part # RP50042-58. This is a custom install kit that will install in much less time than a universal kit and will minimize frame drilling as well.
