Tekonsha Primus IQ Standby Current

Question:

What is the standby current on the unit once its shut down? Primus IQ model I note for another unit standby is 10 mA. Thanks in advance.

I reached out to my tech contact at Tekonsha and the Primus IQ # TK90160 will have a standby current that will average about 11 mA but you will get sudden spikes of around 200 mA as it runs its tests to see if there is a trailer connected as part of its testing cycle. This is typical of almost all brake controllers to have a similar reading and testing current. This current is next to nothing, yet it allows the brake controller to keep its programmed settings so you don't have to reset it each time you start your vehicle.
