Do Dexter and Kodiak Disc Brake Kits Use Same Mounting Brackets
Question:
The 12inch slip on rotor for this Dexter kit looks like it is set back quite abit farther from the hub face than 12inch Kodiak KR526 slip on rotors on you site and similar rotors. Could you tell me: 1. How much farther from the hub face is the Dexter slip on rotor vs Kodiak slip on rotors? 2. If the Dexter rotors positioning on the axle represents some sort of advantage over the Kodiak rotorsfoot positioning on the axle? 3. Whether or not there are any other differences in Dexter vs Kodiak rotor measurements?

Expert Reply:
The mounting brackets of the Kodiak kit like the # K2R526D and the Dexter kit part # K71-647-648 locate the caliper relative to the hub in a slightly different position as well as use different bolt hole dimensions. Because of this the two kits aren't compatible with each other. The Dexter is much more offset towards the axle than the Kodiak, but that doesn't necessarily mean one is better than the other. Both of these brands do things differently but have a great reputation as being very reliable and well performing.
