ST215/75-14 Trailer Tire Recommendation for Triple Axle Boat Trailer
Question:
I have a triple axel boat trailer for a 27foot boat weighing 6000+ pounds that currently has 215 75r14 tires. I will be replacing all six tires. I will be pulling 450 miles one way. I am considering at least a 6 ply trailer or light truck tire, load range D and need it to be safe at 70+ mph. What tires do you recommend?

We can help you select new trailer tires for your triple axle boat trailer.
For mostly highway driving a radial tire is preferred. Bias ply type tire are better for off-road applications since they have stiffer side walls. But for higher-speed highway driving radials will give you a better ride and traction since they flex more than bias tires.
The place to start is to confirm the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) for the trailer, which is the most it can ever weigh. Take this figure and divide by 6 to get you minimum weight requirement per tire. Naturally you want to choose tires that give you a weight safety margin; this will enable them to run cooler which is always better.
In your ST215/75-14 size we have 4 tire options shown on the linked page. One of these is a Load Range D tire, part # TTWTRTM2157514D, which is a Taskmaster radial. This tire can handle 2200-lbs each at the rated pressure of 65-psi. It also has an M speed rating, meaning it is good to 81-mph. This is your best option.
Always maintain the maximum rated COLD tire pressure in all six tires. It is never appropriate to under- or over-inflate a trailer tire at any time.
