Should 12 Volt Circuit of Trailer 7-Way Charge Dead Trailer Battery

Question:

I picked up my first camper on Saturday. It had an electric winch, and when I pulled up and had to raise it, we found that the mounted camper battery was dead. The salesman plugged the 7 way into my pickup, the winch still didnt work. He mentioned that I must be missing the fuse. Thats all he said, and he went and got a jumper set for the mounted battery on the camper. After I got hitched up I drove 2 hours non stop back to my home. When I pulled into the yard to park the camper, my vehicle shut off. I have a 2018 Ford F150. I have the push button start. I started the vehicle again, and it ran for a moment and shut off again. I started again and gave some gas and it kept running but I could tell it was still low on juice. Once I disconnected the camper, and the 7 way, I let my vehicle run and it has been fine since. I looked in my fuse panel, and every trailer fuse that is on the list has a fuse in it that isnt broken. Any idea what could have caused this situation?

You need to put a solid charge on the battery of your trailer with a charger like the NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5. The 12 volt circuit of your trailer's wiring is not designed to charge a dead battery. It really can only keep a charged battery topped off since the circuit doesn't carry that much amperage.
