Can Only Standard Fifth Wheel Hitches be Used with Sidewinder Pin Box

Question:

I have a 2018 f-150,6.5ft box, 3.5 turbo, can the Anderson ultimate3200 be used with a reese sidewinder pin box? I have seen the 6.5ft box referenced as short bed, thought a 5.5ft was a short bed.

Sidewinders cannot be used with the Andersen Ultimate Connection part # AM3200 that you mentioned. You'd have to go with a standard fifth wheel hitch like the # RP30047 for use with a Sidewinder. Typically 6-1/2 foot beds are the standard "short bed," but there are a few manufacturers that make truck beds that are 5-1/2 feet long.

The Sidewinder is the only way to tow a trailer with a truck that has a 5-1/2 foot bed.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
