Differences Between Class III Receivers Available for 2008 Ford Taurus X
Question:
i would like to know which hitch would be a better choice. i have a 2008 taurus x. would like a class III hitch. the 75299, or the 87108. is the 87108 actually a hidden hitch? just want the heavier of the 2. they look comparable to me, and priced the same. thank you

Expert Reply:
Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite are both sister companies, therefore both the Draw-Tite Class III Receiver, part # 75299 and the Hidden Hitch Class III Receiver, part # 87108 are going to be almost identical. The installation procedure and towing and tongue weight capacities are the same.
Hidden Hitch is actually a brand name, and does not necessarily describe how visible the receiver hitch will be once it is installed. The way the hitch sits on the vehicle in relation to the rear bumper can vary according to vehicle design. Luckily enough, once installed on your vehicle, only the receiver portion of the hitch will be visible from the rear. The crossbar portion of the hitch will be concealed behind the bumper fascia.
Either hitch would serve you well.
