Can Both 7- and 4-Way Connectors on # HM40975 be Used at the Same Time
Question:
I have a 2017 F350 with this trailer plug. How do I use the 7 pin and the 4 pin at the same time?

Helpful Expert Reply:
7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975 and similar vehicle side trailer connectors are designed so that you can only use one of the connectors at a time. The reason for this is that both connectors share the same circuits for lights and so it would be easy to overload those circuits in some cases.
If you are certain that won't happen you would have to take the door off of one side so the 2 doors are not blocking each other.
