The best autosliding 5th wheel hitch option for your 2017 Ford F-350 short bed with the OEM pucks is the Demco Autosliding Hijacker.
It comes in 18K # DM8550024 and 21K # DM8550038 versions, offers 14" of travel, and has 3 hitch height settings; 15-1/2", 16-3/4", and 18-1/4". The single wraparound jaw is secured by a 3/4" locking steel bolt to give you peace of mind while traveling down the road. In addition to the single jaw design the Hijacker also has a double pivoting hitch head and cushioning polyurethane dampeners which all help to give you the smoothest ride possible. The 5-year limited warranty and knowing that it is made right here in the USA lets you know that you are getting a quality product.
These 5th wheel hitches fit standard pin boxes that are 12" - 14" wide but require a locking plate (which is sold separately) if you have a Glide Ride, Mor Ryde, Trailair Tri Glide, Trailair Flexair, Rota Flex, or 5th Airborne pin box. They are not compatible with Sidewinder or Revolution king pins. You do not want to use any device that changes the pivot point of your trailer's king pin with this hitch.
For your application the 18K version would be sufficient to tow your 5th wheel, but if you plan on possibly getting a bigger 5th wheel in the future then it would be more beneficial to get the 21K version.
I have linked some review videos that you can check out for the Hijacker hitches.
