What is the Duty Cycle of the Bulldog Winch Off-Road Winch # BDW10045

Question:

I have a 10 x20 float off my pier that I need to pull up on outhaul logs in the off season. Thinking it weighs in the 2-3000 lb range. One of the options is to purchase the following: Superwinch Talon Series Off-Road Winch - Synthetic Rope - Hawse Fairlead - 9,500 lbs Item # SW1695201 going for a little bigger as I dont know exact weight of float. It is up a gradual ramp formed by two 18 inch diameter telephone poles that go into water. Have teflon plastic on top to reduce friction. My question is what size battery do I need if I want to run this independently of a vehicle stand alone, due to location and not being able to get close w vehicle. how long is the duty cycle on this winch before you have to stop and let cool? thanks,

The Bulldog Winch Off-Road Winch # BDW10045 is meant to be connected to a vehicle battery like what you would find on a Jeep so that is what I recommend using. It is always wise to get a winch that is rated for more weight than the item you will be towing.

This winch has a 2 minute maximum continuous run time. After that you need to let it cool. It has a line speed of 62 FPM (feet per minute) at 0 lbs but that changes to 5 FPM at the full 9,500 lbs.

If you would like to leave your battery out in a safe dry place you could use the Go Power Eco Solar Kit # 34273836 to keep it charged and ready to go.
