Recommendation For Weight Distribution With Sway Control For 28 Foot Enclosed Trailer
Question:
I have large enclosed trailer. Its a 28 foot 10000 gvw. I'm looking to purchase sway control/ weight distribution setup for it. We have a setup now that is old and used up and probably even too small for it. I'm looking for what to purchase from you site that will help with sway. I have a 99 Ford fF250 that we haul with now.

In order to get the right Weight Distribution (WD) system for your towing setup, you will need to know your actual Tongue Weight (TW) when fully loaded and ready to tow. You will also need to include any weight from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. As you determine this weight, keep in mind that the TW is 10% to 15% of the total loaded weight of your trailer. A great tool to help with determining your tongue weight is the etrailer Trailer Tongue Weight Scale, Item # e99044.
After you have that Tongue Weight (TW) figured out, your ideal WD system will be one where the total TW of your towing setup falls in the middle of the TW range of the WD system.
For example, If your fully loaded and ready to tow TW is1,250-lbs then the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System, Item # EQ37141ET, is a great choice. It has a 4-point sway control system, a TW range of 1,000-lbs to 1,400-lbs, and a maximum gross towing weight of 14,000-lbs.
The system includes an adjustable head assembly, spring bars, sway control brackets, 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, and all the hardware needed to install and use the WD system. The adjustable shank is sold separately and I recommend the Equal-i-zer Shank, Item # EQ90-02-4300.
To make installation of the hitch ball easier, I recommend getting the Vanadium steel 1-7/8 inch 12pt Socket, Item # ALL643216.
I have attached some articles and videos for you to review.
