When this Curt 20x60 Folding, Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 is folded up it measures 5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier.
If you need more clearance than that you would want a Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier # 6502. This carrier has 7-1/2 inches of clearance when folded up. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out as well as installation instructions.
