How Tight Do the Clamps on the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack Need to Be
Question:
Im installing the mpg216 on my 2016 Pathfinder. Is it possible to overtighten the clamps so that the mechanism breaks. Much of it appears to be plastic. However, no one wants to see his rack go sailing because it was not tightened down properly. I dont know how much past secure I should go. I know that cargo boxes Yakima Rocket Box generate a lot of drag. Thanks

Yes, you can damage the feet on the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG216 while installing it on your 2016 Nissan Pathfinder. I called my contact at Malone and they stated that their is not a specific increment or torque spec that will need to be applied to the mounting feet but rather to use your best judgment. As long as there is not any movement in the bars/feet once they are tight then you should be fine. If you started to see any of the plastic bend or flex then you know you have overtightened them.
