Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2013 Toyota Highlander

Question:

I have a 2013 Toyota highlander that has the tow package but no trailer plugs. I need to install a 7 pin connector and a trailer brake controller. what products would you recommend to accomplish this with minimal hard wiring?

Since you have the factory wiring on your 2013 Toyota Highlander but no connectors you'd need to start with 4-way kit part # 56042 which is a confirmed fit and plugs right in without any hardwiring. Now to install a brake controller you'll have to use the install kit part # ETBC7 which will require a bit of wiring. But the good news is I have an install video down below that shows exactly how to install it on your 2013 Toyota Highlander so there won't be any guess work.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
