Question:
I have a 2009 venture vtnb-7225 tandem axle trailer with single axle 12drum brakes. i recently bought a new surge actuator but it did not come with a new reverse solenoid, is one needed or do i need a new one as the original one does not work

If you have free-backing drum brake assemblies then no reverse lockout is necessary. Because you stated the original one does not work, it does sound like one is required for your system. I recommend the Replacement Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts # T4748800 which will work with many other brands without issue.
