Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Honda Civic for Carrying Bike Rack

Question:

I had a Toyota Highlander and had a hitch installed and used a Yakima Doubledown Ace 3 bike rack. It worked great on my 2 inch hitch. I have since traded my car and now have a 2016 Honda Civic. In the Yakima manual the bike rack can be converted to a 1.25 and a 2inch hitch. It stated that it fits Class 1 and 2 hitches. Which hitch do you recommend to be installed on my Civic so I can still use my current bike rack? Thank you for your help!!

The shank replacement a DoubleDown 2 would need to fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch is the part # Y8890212. Which Yakima has stated will only fit Class II hitches unlike the Class I hitches that fit your 2016 Honda Civic like the part # C92UR from Curt which fits coupes and sedans.

Because of that the only solution I have is a similar bike rack that is compatible with a Class I hitch.

The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
