Recommended Weight Distribution System for 22 Foot Flatbed with 9,000 lb Load

Question:

Ive got a serious sway problem on a 22 foot flatbed tilt trailer. GVW is 10,000 lbs. I have a RZR loaded on the front of the trailer on a custom ramp. Behind I have a Rubicon unlimited. have about 18 inches left on the bed. RZR weighs 1500#, Rubicon about 4500#. Dont know if a WD with sway control will help or Im expecting too much. Thought the RZR would offset Jeep somewhat since front end of Jeep is over axles but sway is bad at 30MPH. Will a WD with sway control solve the sway? Total weight is about 9000#.

Your trailer has a lot of weight for a flatbed with the RZR and Rubicon you also have some top heavy roll. You will absolutely benefit from having a weight distribution system with sway control.

I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar # RP66130 which is the only system that actively fights sway with the dual cams and hot rolled spring bar design. You will also want the shank # RP54970 for a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver or # RP54977 for a 2-1/2 inch receiver. Finally, you will want the hitch ball # C40030.

If you have further issues once the system is installed, let me know because it is most likely an adjustment issue at that point.
