Can I Drive a Short Distance Before Setting Brake Controller Settings on Tekonsha PRIMUS # TK90160

Question:

Will the brake controller work regardless of a beginning setting?? In order for me to set the brake setting I have to drive down a steep winding driveway first and about 4 miles on a hilly winding road.. Is there a setting to start with that would be ok?? My trailer is lighter then my truck.. Thanx

If everything is hooked up, the brake controller will send power to the trailer brakes each time you apply the brakes on your truck. You should use the manual brake lever on the brake controller to activate the brakes until you are at a safe location to setup the controller.

To set up the brake controller, you will want to use the manual slide to activate the trailer brakes to get them warm. Warming the brakes will simulate conditions when the brakes are being used. You will then follow the instructions for the brake controller for setup. I would recommend starting at the power level indicated in the instructions.
