Loud Tapping Noise While Towing with B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch
Question:
I have a B and W Companion Hitch for my 2017 Crossroads 5th wheel- great hitch but the noise it makes , especially when letting of the gas and slowing down, is really loud - makes a loud tapping noise I can even hear it when not slowing down- interesting when it rains and you have wet roads, that same sound is NOT present- I read about greasing, which I do not only around the king pin but also the jaws of the hitch- just really need to get this figured out I read about B and W issues a lot- not sure if I should go with another brand or not I pull with a Ram 2500 6.7 diesel trailer empty weight is around $8K lbs-

I called my contact at B&W and told them about the problem you are experiencing with excessive noise and they did have a possible solution for you. If you have the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch part # BWRVK3600 or part # BWRVK3670 then you will want to readjust the cam's. This procedure is outlined in the attached photo and on page 4 in your instruction manual. You will want to perform the adjustments with the trailer attached to the vehicle as this will ensure the proper adjustments are made.
Please let me know once this is done and if the issue is resolved or not.
