How Much Ground Clearance is Lost When Installing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on a 2016 Ford Edge

Question:

I cannot tell from the pictures, how much lower would the lowest point of the hitch sit in reference to the lowest point of a Ford Edge SEL 2016 exhaust tip? I am concerned with losing significant ground clearance, from the picture it almost appears to lose maybe 4 inches.

I don't exactly how much ground clearance you lose when installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch reciever, part # 75234, installed on a 2016 Ford Edge but I think with a little measuring and math we can get pretty close.

When we installed the hitch here it measures 12-1/4 inches from the top of the inside of the receiver tube to the ground. I measured that same place to the lowest part of the hitch and it's 4-1/2 inches. Which means the lowest part of the hitch to the ground is about 7-3/4 inches.

So if you compare 7-3/4 inches to your current ground clearnace you'll have the difference. Park your Edge on level ground and measure from the ground to the lowest point at the rear, probably the exhaust like you mentioned and subtract 7-3/4 from that number. I'm guessing you're probably correct at about 4 inches or so but it's hard to tell by the pictures and video.
