Upgrading from a 4-Way to a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2016 GMC Terrain

Question:

I have a 2016 GMC Terrain with the trailering package that is equipped with a 4-pole flat connector. I want to upgrade to a 7-way connector. What equipment do I need?

The easiest way is to use our # ETBC7 kit to convert your 4-way trailer connector to a 7-way. The it includes everything you need from the conenctor to all of the wiring and circuit breakers.

If you're installing a 7-way to power a trailer's brakes you also need a brake controller. If you need one I recommend the Prodigy P3, part # 90195. It's one of our top sellers because of how reliable and easy to use it is.

I've linked an install video of the # ETBC7 being installed in a 2010 Acadia which is a similar process as your Terrain. The controller in the video is the P2, part # 90885, but it installs the same as the P3.

If you don't need the 7-way to have any functions other than the lighting functions of your 4-way then you can use part # 37185 instead of the # ETBC7. In this case you can just cap off the extra wires and not use those functions.
