Bike Rack for 2 Bikes on a 2017 Honda Odyssey and a 2014 Ford Edge

Question:

Hi I am looking for a trunk rack for 2 bikes that would be compatible with both a 2017 Honda Odyssey and a 2014 Ford Edge. Any suggestions?

We do have trunk mount bike racks that fit each of your vehicles and I have a solution for you to use only one rack but none of the trunk mount racks we carry are confirmed to fit both the 2017 Honda Odyssey and the 2014 Ford Edge.

The only 2-bike rack that's confirmed on the Honda is the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top, part # HRF2, which is my favorite to recommend for any vehicles with a hatch or spoiler. So it's a great option for your van. Unfortunately, there's something keeping it from fitting on the Edge. I contacted Hollywood Racks and they didn't have the exact details as to why but they know that something with that generation of Edge prevents it from fitting well. I linked a video so you can see how the Hollywood Racks fits on an Odyssey.

For the Edge I recommend the Thule Passage, part # TH910XT. This is a great, economical rack for 2 bikes with cushioned anti-sway cradles to help keep the bikes from makign contact with each other or the vehicle.

For either rack you may want to add some security using a strap, part # TH533, for the rack and a lock, part # e98891, for the bikes. Also, if you're going to be carrying any women's or children's bikes you may also need an adpater bar, like the Swagman Deluxe # 64005 to keep the bikes level.

Another option to consider is adding a trailer hitch to both vehicles and then getting one hitch mount bike rack. Initially you'll have to install the hitches but once they're on the vehicles you'll only need one rack and it'll be a lot easier to transfer it between the van and the Edge. Also, a hitch mounted rack doesn't come into contact with either vehicle and can have a higher weight capacity than a trunk mount.

A rack option like the Saris Freedom, part # SA4412B, can hold a large variety of bikes up to 60 pounds each. The platform style is easier to load bikes onto and more secure than a trunk mount rack. Plus, you won't need the adapter bar I mentioned. It's also extremely light for a platform rack at only about 22 pounds.

For hitches on both your vehicles I recommend the Draw-Tite, part # 76025, for the Odyssey and the etrailer.com hitch, part # E98870, for the Edge. They're both custom fit and bolt right on.
