Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2017 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Hi, This gets a little confusing and I hope you can help me. Does a Jeeps Yellow wire control the left turn and brake? Green on the right side My question reworded is: if the turn signal is Not on does the bulb powered by the Yellow wire act as a brake light? Does that one wire somehow control 2 separate functions but not at the same time? Like, press the brake and the light is a brake light but hit the turn signal and it’s suddenly a blinker until the signal is turned off then its just a brake light again? I guess I have asked the same question 4 different ways but that’s part of the confusion. I’m sure that you have a much better way of wording the question as well as a simple answer. Help! Please help!

Your 2017 Jeep Wrangler features a combined wiring system, which means that the brake and turn signals are indeed sent along the same wire. So you are absolutely correct - the same wire on your Jeep will control both the turn signal and brake light function.
For a custom-fit wiring harness, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118416 if your Jeep does not have the factory tow package. This harness will actually connect directly to built-in ports behind the driver side tail light on your Jeep, allowing you to install a 4-Way connector without having to splice or cut any wires.
I have also attached an installation video on your Jeep that you can use for reference.
