I checked out your Tow Brake HD 3000 unit online and found that it is a very good braking system, but that the system is not recommended for use with your GM integrated brake controller, as you have found. I then spoke with Tow Brake and he said that they have used the inline magnet that you are using, but that he feels that your best option is to go with a brake controller that is compatible with an electric over hydraulic system like you have. The Tekonsha P3, # 90195, would be an excellent choice.

The part you referred to, Titan BrakeRite EHB Adapter, # T4846000, is designed specifically for the Titan BrakeRite system and has not been tested for compatibility and safety with the Tow Brake system. There is no information available to support whether this unit would work with a different manufacturers system or not.

Installing an aftermarket brake controller on your 2011 GMC Duramax truck is fairly simple and you will not need to worry about the factory brake controller. It will remain in the vehicle and installed. You will just need to bypass the output wire and run a new one, # 10-1-1, from the aftermarket controller to the 7-Way connector at the back of the vehicle. All of the wires for installing an aftermarket controller are located under the dash of your truck and our instructions show exactly which wires to use and where wires need to be connected under the hood to activate these wires.

You may also need an M6 Flange Nut, # 185916, and an M8 Flange Nut, # 185917, to complete the installation.

The Gentleman at Tow Brake also recommended only setting the P3 brake controller at about 4.5 or 4.6 volts, as higher voltage is not needed to activate their system.
