Wiring Kit To Power Winch From Tow Vehicle
Question:
I have a new 6.5x12 tilt deck sure track trailer wood deck . I am interested in a trailer winch is there any that you can run off of the 12 volt outlet on the truck ? Also how do you mount them ? Also are they removable ? Are any of them load bearing while hauling ? Meaning leave it hooked up to replace ratchet straps on the side the winch is hooked to ? Any suggestions much appreciated thank you.

We hav winches like the part # 2953AT which can be mounted to a trailer like you need. The trailer wiring of your vehicleis not rated for use with the Master Lock Electric Trailer Winch # 2953AT though. The wiring could overheat and cause damage to the hitch wiring, the winch, or even your vehicle. It would be too much amperage draw for the circuit.
You will need to wire the winch separately. I recommend the Winch Trailer Wiring Kit # BDW20043. The kit contains properly sized wiring and connectors to make use of the winch easy and removable.
The winches like this are not designed for securing cargo as you travel down the road. You'd need ratchet straps like # 34414.
