Brake Assembly Recommendation for Boat Trailer That Allows it to be Backed up Without Brake Lockup

Question:

I use my tractor to move my boat around. My boat trailer has brakes and wont back up unless I use my SUV plugged in. Is there an override plug I could use on my tractor that would allow me to backup override the brake safety switch the trailer?

Best option would be to install free-backing brake assemblies on your trailer as they allow the trailer to be reversed and not have the brakes apply. For example if you have 3,500 lb axles on your trailer you'd want the kit part # AKFBBRK-35-D which comes with assemblies for both the left and the right. These are galvanized too which helps prevent corrosion.

I also attached a link below to a page that has all of the free backing plates we offer for you to check out if you have a different axle capacity.
