P3 Brake Controller Recommendation 2011 Dodge Ram w Elec Over Hydra Brakes and Factory Controller
Question:
We plan on purchasing a 2011 ram 3500 that comes with the integrated brake controller. Our camper has electric over hydraulic brakes though and from what I understand this IBC will not work with them. Can I add this P3 controller in this truck with out too much hassle?

To use a trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes on your 2011 Dodge Ram with an integrated brake controller, you will need to install an aftermarket brake control.
To install an aftermarket brake control you will have to disconnect the ITBM, this will turn on a warning lamp, on the instrument cluster. In order to disconnect the ITBM and not get the warning lamp, your local Dodge dealer will have to reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module), of the truck. Once the TIPM has been reconfigured, and the ITBM has been unplugged you will be able to install an aftermarket brake controller.
The Tekonsha P3 Proportional Brake Controller # 90195 with Dodge Adapter # 3021-P would be an excellent choice as this controller works verywell with electric over hydraulic brakes and includes an adapter that will allow you to plug the controller in without having to splice any wires.
I attached installation instructions for you to check out also.
