Removing The Heat Shield To Install The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver On The 2017 Kia Niro.
Question:
The instructions for the trailer hitch say to permanently remove the heat shield by the exhaust muffler. I get very nervous when you tell me to remove a heat shield. Its definitely there for a good purpose. Your response?

I talked to my contact at Curt Manufacturing and they advised me that when installing Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13329 to your 2017 Kia Niro, the heat shield needs to be removed to reach the access points to bolt the hitch to the frame of the car. Removing the shield, and then installing the hitch, will not compromise the integrity of your vehicle. Many vehicles require the heat shield to be removed to complete this install.
