Recommended Sidewinder Pin Box for Shasta Phoenix 370FE and 5th Wheel Hitch for 2018 GMC 3500 65 Box

Question:

I just purchase a Shasta Phoenix 370FE its 41foot GVWR 14,500 and has TURN POINT TECHNOLOGY. I have a 2018 GMC 3500HD diesel Crew cab STD 65inch box. Was thinking of getting a Curt A16 Hitch and Reese Airborne Premiun Fifth Wheel AirRide Pin Box with the sidewinder . Just wonder if this will work and wonder if I need the sidewinder sense I have the turn point technology on my RV. Please help .

For your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500, the Reese M5 5th wheel hitch # RP30928 and install kit # RP56001-53 would be a great option.

This 5th wheel hitch will work well with a 5th Airborne Sidewinder like the Reese 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret # RP61422. The Rounded corners of the Shasta Phoenix 370FE is the turn point technology they refer to that will provide some turning clearance over the flat front, but a Sidewinder is the route to go for the turning clearance you won't be restricted by. I've attached a couple videos of a Sidewinder on the rounded front of two trailers similar to yours for reference. Keep in mind, you'll also need to use Wedge # RP44FR.

I also recommend the wiring harness # C56000 if you don't already have the in bed 7-way for easy access and clean connection.
