Is Reprogramming Necessary to Install Wiring Harness on 2016 Volvo XC90?
Question:
2016 Volvo xc90 hitch and wiring installation. My dealer wants 1700.00 to install a Volvo hitch and wiring. They claim when they install and wire that the car will require programming for the wiring. Is this right? Do you have any round tube hitches that come out higher similar to volvo. Thanks

Though I cannot speak for the parts that Volvo uses, there is not going to be any reprogramming necessary to install T-One Wiring Harness # 118683 on your 2016 Volvo XC90. In fact, you can take a look at the complete installation of this harness in the video I linked of it being installed on a '16 XC90 and you can see that the 4-way connector works without reprogramming.
And though no round tube hitches are available for your Volvo XC90 I do recommend the Curt # C53HR. This is a 2" hitch that is a bolt-on installation which will not require any drilling into your Volvo's frame.
If you are going to be towing, I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached a link to our page with each of our ball mounts as well as a video review of the ball mount kit.
