Troubleshooting Light Signals On Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
The voyager light does not seem to be a bright green light when plugged in. It is a lime green. When you first plug it in just for a sec you see the bright green. And will not light red at all. It is a three axle trailer and two of the brakes are on all the time. We are pulling a equipment trailer with a Freightliner. This has worked before. We have not used the trailer for awhile. We did replace the plug in on the back of the truck. Could we had wires touching in that plugin? All the trailer lights seem to be working right. It has the older small round plugin.

Because you have recently replaced the plug, I would start there and see if there is any corrosion or loose or touching wires. I would also check ground connections to make sure they are firmly secured to a clean metal surface.
The green light on the Voyager brake controller, Item # 39510, should come on as soon as you plug the trailer into the vehicle. I am not sure that the different green colors means much but certainly keep an eye on it.
The red light will come on in two cases. First, it will turn on if you use the manual lever on the front of the brake controller. Second, the red light will come on when you apply your brakes in your tow vehicle (normally need to be going 25 mph or faster).
If you provide the year, make, and model of the vehicle I will be glad to make additional suggestions. I am also attaching installation instructions for the Voyager that will give you additional information and tips on running diagnostics that might assist you.
