Best Bike Rack for use With TorkLift SuperTruss on 2016 Ford F-350

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 Ford F-350 dually that I haul a 11.5 foot camper on. I have a Torklift Superhitch with a 42inch extension I use to tow with. It is a standard 2inch receiver. Would a good 5 bike rack work with the extension or should I consider something specifically designed for a RV? I would like one that tilts so I can get into the camper without having to remove the bikes. I will use this when I am not hauling the trailer.

That is an interesting situation; your TorkLift # TLF1002 and SuperTruss 42" Extension # TLE1542 are a combination not often used for bike racks. The use of a bike rack rated for use behind an RV would be your best bet, though there are no 5-bike racks or tilting racks rated for use behind an RV. A 5-bike rack on a 42" extension is going to be very rough on the rack and is not something I recommend doing.

Your best option is a 4-bike RV-rated bike carrier and I recommend the Yakima LongHaul # Y02476 because it has strong anti-sway cradles that secure your bikes at three different points and absorbs vibration to keep your bikes steady.

The LongHaul is made of steel and has a powder-coat finish which is resistant to being chipped and damaged. It also has an easy-to use quick release to fold down the arms when you aren't carrying bikes with it and comes with a hitch lock to secure your rack to your hitch and a cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack.

Please note that when using a hanging rack like the LongHaul it's possible you'll need bike frame adapter bar # Y02531 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.

The photo next to the one you sent in is of the LongHaul # Y02476 in use with a bike using Adapter Bar # Y02531.

I've also added a link to a video review of the adapter so you can see exactly how it works, as well as a link to a review of the LongHaul.
