You would want to use a cargo bag designed to be mounted to the roof of vehicles. The item you selected, Extra Large Cargo Carrier, part # 988501 is not rated or designed for use on top of a vehicle, it is designed to be used on a hitch mounted cargo carrier.

For a roof mounted cargo bag, I would recommend the Rightline Gear Cargo Bag, part # RL100S30, which has 18 cubic feet of cargo room. This cargo bag will attach to a roof rack, or can be used on a bare roof by running the straps through the interior of the vehicle.

If mounting the cargo bag to a bare roof, I would recommend using the Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad, part # RL100650, which will help protect the vehicle finish from scratches. If not using the non-skid pad, I would recommend washing the vehicle and applying a coat of automotive wax. You will also want to make sure the bottom of the cargo bag is clean before mounting to the roof of your vehicle.

Be sure to check your vehicle owners manual for the roof load carrying capacity as you will not want to exceed it.
