It sounds like you have a trailer with separate tail lights from the brake light circuit and you are looking to convert the 4-way from your Honda Civic to a 5-way and then remove the 6-way round connector from your trailer and install a 5-way.
First thing you will need to do is convert your combined tail light circuits to a separate tail light circuit. So like you said you would need another converter box. You would want a Converter Box # 118158 to make that conversion. You will also want to get a Hopkins Endurance 5-Way Flat Trailer Wiring Kit # HM47890 to give you the connectors you need.
First thing you will do is cut the 4-way connector off leaving plenty of wire. You will want to run the white, green and yellow wires to the corresponding colors on the input side of the # 118158. The running light circuit will go straight to the 5-way without passing through the converter.
The output side of the connector will have right turn, left turn and stop circuits that will give you the correct circuits to match the 5-way wiring. You will need to ground the 5-way to a clean metal surface also.
Finally, you will need to remove the 6-way from your trailer and wire the trailer 5-way from the # HM47890 by function.
