Question:

I have a 2018 Toyota C-HR and want to know how much maximum weight I can tow with the draw tite class 1. I have a motorcycle that weighs about 500lbs would that be okay to tow?

Owner's manuals are the most reliable resource for knowing a car's capacities so I checked an online edition of the manual for the 2018 Toyota C-HR on the Toyota website for details.

Page 160 indicates the following:

"Toyota does not recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle. Toyota also does not recommend the installation of a tow hitch or the use of a tow hitch carrier for a wheelchair, scooter, bicycle,
etc. Your vehicle is not designed for trailer towing or for the use of tow hitch mounted carriers".

The light-duty Class I hitches made for this vehicle like # DR94FR have a rating of 2000-lbs maximum towing and 200-lbs maximum tongue weight (TW) which is down force on the hitch tube. This means that if you chose to use a lightweight Class I bike rack like Curt # C18085 the hitch itself could handle this weight plus the weight of two typical bikes. This refers to the hitch's capacity, which can be different from the vehicle's capacity.

The hitch itself could handle the weight of a 500-lb bike on a small trailer but you will want to consider whether or not to go against what Toyota says about using this car to tow.
