Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller on a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
I was on the website looking at Item # 90195,Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional, and I was wondering if I need to purchase a wiring harness to be able to plug it into the factory port in the truck or if it gets hardwired into the harness somewhere? If I can or need to purchase a harness can you direct me to which one I would need to purchase for my truck? Again my truck is a 2005 Dodge RAM 1500. Thanks.

If your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 did not come with a factory trailer connector then you will need to hardwire the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 with the included harness. You will also need both a 4-way like part # C55504 and a 4 to 7-way like part # ETBC7 to complete your wiring.
If your Ram came with a 4-way trailer connector then you can use part # 3020-P to install the controller. You will also need a 4 to 7-way like part # 30717 to complete your wiring. If your Ram came with a factory 7-way trailer connector then all you need to install the Prodigy P3 is the adapter part # 3020-P.
If you have either the 4 or 7-way factory trailer connector then you can see the location of the brake controller harness at :50 mark in the attached video.
