Closest Trailer Tire Size to 175/70R14

Question:

My Stratos boat trailer has apparently the wrong tires for a trailer. I bought the rig used and tires are showing sidewall cracking though tread is almost new looking. One side is a Primewell 175/70R14. The other side has same size of un-recalled off brand. I have 14inch wheels with 5 lugs, 2 3/4inch center bolt to center bolt. The wheels are chrome and in good condition so Id prefer to keep them. Im trying to figure out what is the actual equivalent for replacing of only the tires with an ST type. I try searching ST175/70R14 and ST175/70D14 and coming up with nothing except Google hits for ST175/80D13 and ST205/75D14. Could be the 175/70R14 are wrong altogether I suppose, but they fit.

The two sizes you mentioned of ST175/70D14 and ST175/70R14 are actually the same size with the difference being the construction. The R indicates radial and the D indicates bias ply. Radial is generally preferred as they run cooler and flex more.

The closest tire size we have is 205/75-14 like the # 274-000012 but we do not have a 175/70-14 as that's not a common trailer tire size.
