Can I Power Lights On My Horse Trailer With a Small Battery Installed on Trailer

Id like to install a battery on my gooseneck trailer so that the lights can be run when the truck is not on. Where do you install battery? And where do the wires come from and/or get to you battery under the gooseneck part?

The location of where to install the battery really depends on the trailer. Typically it's installed in the tack room area in the front of a horse trailer but it really only matters that it's out of the direct way of the weather and is a place you'd be able to reasonably install the battery.

For wiring you'd want to use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot. I'd recommend routing the wire in the same way from your trailer connector along the gooseneck of the trailer. Trace where it goes from the connector and route it there with it.
